Samuel Buchholz from Rathenow took third place in this year's performance competition for journeyman carpenters and joiners. He demonstrated his skills in a field of the 15 best young journeymen nationwide. As a reward for his successful performance, Buchholz received a hand machine and a tool set from Festool, a rucksack filled with Spax brand items and a free subscription to the trade magazine dds. The 22-year-old completed his apprenticeship at Kiebitzberg® Möbelwerkstätten in Havelberg.

„I think it's simply fantastic that Samuel was so successful in this top-class competition,“ says company owner Andreas Lewerken. „The good result proves how confidently he understands his trade. And how good the training in our company is. I'm really proud of our former apprentice!“ Buchholz now has the best opportunities for his future career. After all, it is not only the companies that appreciate craftsmanship, but above all the customers.

All 15 participants in the exciting title fight had previously won the performance competition at state level and thus qualified for the national competition. It took place from November 3 to 5 at the master school in Ebern, Bavaria. The young journeymen had to build a lowboard from beech and veneered MDF (medium density fiberboard) within 19 hours. The template was a technical drawing. A jury of five experts assessed the quality of the craftsmanship.

The national final of the performance competition for journeyman carpenters and joiners, the unofficial German championship, is traditionally organized by the Bundesverband Holz und Kunststoff (BHKH). This year it was supported by Festool, SPAX, Schorn & Groh, CWS-boco Deutschland, Häfele, Pollmeier, Leitz, Carl Goetz and the trade magazine dds.
