On 27.03.2009 the ceremonial christening of the FGS in the style of a water convertible took place in Berlin. The ceremonial naming of the ship „The Flying Dutchman“ was performed by the wife of the Dutch ambassador Mrs. S.A. Foulds M.Sc.Palthe. Following the successful naming of the ship, the owners presented the shipbuilders with a large gift basket to mark the successful completion of the passenger ship's construction. After the official ceremony, the invited guests gathered on the ship for the maiden voyage on the Spree. The cruise reached its climax when the two-part glass sliding roof was retracted and a multitude of red, blue, white and orange balloons, the Dutch national colors, were released into the sky.
On 09.03.2009 at 10 a.m., the passenger ship, in the style of a water convertible, with the future name „Flying Dutchman“ was lifted into the water, briefly living up to its name. Under a bright blue sky and sunshine, the passenger ship dived into its future element.
