Flood 2013 - Information for colleagues, partners and customers of Kiebitzberg® in Havelberg

Dear colleagues, customers and business partners! The floods continue to roll through Germany and our region is also affected. We would therefore like to give you an update on the current situation for our production and therefore your products.

June 12, 2013, Kiebitzberg® Group, Havelberg

Wednesday, June 12, 2013Havelberg is cordoned off from almost all sides. Police are blocking the main road from Glöwen (A24) and Sandau (Tangermünde, Stendal, Magdeburg). The ferries are out of service and the only remaining connection in other directions is now the bridge at Garz over the Havel in the direction of B5 - Friesack.

The Water level of the Havel in Havelberg is still constant. The crest of the Elbe will probably no longer hit us directly, as a dam burst in Fischbeck a few days ago and water has been flowing into the hinterland ever since. This water is now making its way in our direction via Schönhausen, Hohengöhren, Klietz, Sandau / Kamern to Havelberg. At the moment, no one can say how far the water will spread and how quickly it will drain away.

We have, as far as possible Production in plant 2 (Kiebitzberg® solid surface materials)resumed. Nevertheless, the sandbags remain and the machines and materials are still jacked up as far as we can do without them.

A large proportion of the workforce is personally affected, which is why we can only work with a very small team - this also applies to Plant 1 (Kiebitzberg® furniture workshops). Some of our staff simply can't get across the Elbe, others had to evacuate their homes in the surrounding villages or help with the dike protection work.

Through the closed roads comes No new material to Havelberg - We are happy not to have completely succumbed to the „just-in-time“ mentality, which is why we have stocks for the next few days to keep production going.

We ask for your Understanding for possible delivery delays in the coming days and weeks. We are trying to work ahead as far as possible so that we can avoid delays caused by these Force majeure can be limited as far as possible. Even if our production in Havelberg is not (yet) flooded, the downtime damage is immense.

We will keep you up to date!
