Solid surface materials ideal as cladding for facades
January 30, 2013, Kiebitzberg® Solid Surface Materials
Since 1995, the owner-managed family business Kiebitzberg® has been working with acrylic-bound solid surface materials such as LG HIMACS - especially where surfaces are exposed to high levels of moisture and wear and tear and where high hygiene standards apply. This gave rise to the idea of Dirt-repellent, solid surface not only in the interior, but also in the Facade design to be used. Since 2013 HIMACS is a Product approved by building authorities (European technical approval ETA). The material was also tested for the increased UV requirements tested outdoors. For the first time, there is now a material that leaves all design options open, from the façade to the washbasin.
Villa Berlin project: 350 façade panels
Whether facade or Residential/commercial spaceThe Kiebitzberg® team led by production manager Florian Lewerken has mastered the planning and processing of solid surface materials down to the last detail. At a villa in Berlin, the Kiebitzberg® solid surface planners and processors were able to impressively demonstrate their skills from July to November 2012. About 350 individual HIMACS panels were Planned to the millimeter and in Handcrafted - all parallel to the construction on site and with some elaborate radii, corners and a milled, backlit house number. A project with the highest demands on craftsmanship and precise execution. Because solid surface materials are particularly Weather and UV-resistant are, thanks to extreme malleability can be designed and processed in a variety of ways, colorfast and robust are, they will be able to Facade design in the future even more strongly.

What is the material HIMACS?
LG HIMACS is an acrylic-bonded solid surface material that is composed of around 70 percent natural stone powder, around 25 percent acrylic resin and around 5 percent natural pigments. This modern, ecological and highly versatile material was developed and manufactured by LG HAUSYS and LG HAUSYS EUROPE, the world's leading company in the sector, based in Geneva. Two HIMACS properties stand out in particular: absolute water impermeability and a long service life. The material is so robust that color does not fade or peel off. Thanks to its non-porous surface, HIMACS is even, hygienic and easy to clean, resistant to stains and heat.
