Around 2,000 visitors accepted the invitation to the ArtHotel Kiebitzberg® open day on Friday, September 21, 2012. Numerous well-wishers and visitors came to Schönberger Weg 6 for the official opening at 10.00 a.m. And on this beautiful late summer's day, the stream of visitors continued for the next nine hours. The highlight and surprise of the day: the new restaurant is called Schmokenberg.

After hotel tours every quarter of an hour, the day reached 16.00 hrs with the Name unveiling of the new Restaurants in Havelberg its climax. Following the symbolic handover of the keys and a warm speech by architect and planner Michael Wege to the building owners, hotel operators and Kiebitzberg® managing directors Renate and Andreas Lewerken - then the big surpriseThe Restaurant is called „Schmokenberg“, which the tense crowd acknowledged with thunderous applause. And which moved some of them to tears. Because many of those present associate the former Schmokenberg Hotel with happy parties, celebrations and dance evenings in the old hall. That's how it should be again! The ArtHotel Kiebitzberg® with its new hall (inauguration is on October 13, 2012 at the 7th Plattdeutschfest) and the Schmokenberg restaurant is now once again a meeting place in Havelberg: for conferences, seminars or company events as well as for weddings, club parties, company outings or family celebrations.

Accompanied by an „overwhelming feeling of relief and joy after so many labor-intensive months surrounding the ArtHotel Kiebitzberg® construction project“, as Andreas Lewerken emphasized at the restaurant's christening, and the consistently positive response from the public, the day moved into the evening to the relaxed sounds of the Köstritz jazz band. While cake and barbecue stands as well as a drinks trolley catered for the physical well-being of the guests during the day, guests were able to indulge in an à la carte „Open Day Special“ from 7 p.m. onwards.

About the ArtHotel Kiebitzberg® Havelberg

The structural origins of the building extend into the 18th century back. The weaver Johann Joachim Schmok from Nitzow erected a weaving mill on the site at Schönberger Weg 6 in Havelberg. Damask factory. In the middle of the 19th century, the ice cellar, which is still preserved today, was built into the slope of the vineyard.

On August 7, 2007, the founders and managing directors of the Kiebitzberg® Group in Havelberg, Renate and Andreas Lewerken, bought the property with a hotel called Schmokenberg on it, which was in need of renovation at the time. The Havel as an element of peace and relaxation, a hotel as a place of encounter - these were the visions that began in the Fall 2010 the first construction measures. Less than a year later, after extensive renovation and modernization measures, the first phase of the major construction project was completed. The ArtHotel Kiebitzberg® guest house opened on August 15. With Opening of the complete restaurant operation on September 21, 2012 Lewerkens have breathed new gastronomic life into the traditional restaurant location.

After interesting days between culture and nature, the ArtHotel in Havelberg invites you to relax with approx. 40 comfortable rooms, The hotel is located in the middle of a charming park and invites you to rest and relax. Each room has its own special touch: from double rooms to suites with integrated wellness zones (e.g. sauna or heat cabin in the room). There is also the Schmokenberg restaurant with conservatory and terrace, a bar and a hall for up to 250 people. Many of the rooms can accommodate extra beds, all are equipped with shower / bathtub / WC / satellite TV / WiFi / telephone and some have a minibar.
