Tomorrow, MDR television will be showing winter in the Altmark in its popular series „Unterwegs in Sachsen-Anhalt“. On their journey along the Elbe, presenters Victoria Herrmann and Andreas Neugeboren met with the entrepreneurial couple Andreas and Renate Lewerken, who have been successful for 27 years, in Havelberg, the cathedral and island town in the green north-east of the state. Viewers will see „creative furniture designers, resourceful shipbuilders and sophisticated hotel architects and operators“ with the Kiebitzberg® Group, according to the MDR announcement. The wintry tour through the Altmark starts at 6.15 pm.

At the same time, we want to be a meeting place for conferences, seminars, concerts and other cultural events,“ adds Renate Lewerken, who believes that the hotel is ideally suited for large-scale events such as the BUGA 2015 equipped.
In Havelberg for 27 years

Andreas Lewerken originally founded Beginning of the 80s one Workshop for therapeutic and didactic wooden toys called „Wooden toys from Kiebitzberg“. It quickly became a bestseller in the galleries of the GDR. Ten years later, there was not only a change in society, but also in the company itself. Furniture construction came to the fore, the foundation stone for the Kiebitzberg® furniture workshops was laid and the company grew. Today, almost 80 employees work here - consisting of engineers, designers, carpenters, metalworkers, shipbuilders and commercial staff.

MDR viewers will also learn interesting facts about the Kiebitzberg® solid surface production in Havelberg. In the workshop, designers work together with customers to develop projects that are Handcrafted as individual production and also implemented in series production. „This clearly sets us apart from industrially manufactured products,“ explains Florian Lewerken, Head of Solid Surface Production.
