On June 9, 2011, the second new ship for Kazakhstan was ceremoniously christened „Esil“ and then successfully launched. On behalf of the shipyard, Renate and Andreas Lewerken welcomed Serik Rustambekov and Nurzhan Abilov, managing directors of the Kazakh capital's urban development company, and their interpreter to this important event.
The christening and launching of the new saloon passenger ship „Esil“ was successfully completed in beautiful sunshine in front of the numerous guests. Godmother Jana Henning smashed the bottle with the words „I christen you with the name Esil and wish you always a hand's breadth of water under your keel!“ After all the fastenings on the ship had been checked once again, a mobile crane carefully lifted the passenger ship into the water. Master shipbuilder Ulrich Ahrens then handed the ship's owner Serik Rustambekov the christening plate and triggered the lucky penny in the old shipbuilding tradition. Afterwards, the owner and the guests were able to inspect the new ship extensively.
