Ship ahoy! Another major project at the Kiebitzberg® shipyard has been successfully completed after six months of construction. The passenger ship named „Esil“ for the capital of Kazakhstan will leave the shipyard tomorrow, Wednesday, July 6 at 7:30 a.m. to start its long journey to Astana.

„The saloon ship is first shipped to Travemünde by waterway,“ explains Matthias Lutter, chief engineer at the Kiebitzberg® shipyard. The ferry to the Baltic is then waiting in Travemünde. From there, it's back on the road to Kazakhstan. The journey takes around four weeks before the ship, named after a river in the Kazakh capital, is finally handed over to the customer in Astana.

The saloon boat with a length of 20.80 meters and a width of 5.08 meters is designed for a total of 69 people. Inside and out, special emphasis was placed on absolute top quality in the construction and fittings. „We trust in our own potential and therefore do almost everything ourselves. Our aim is to always provide the customer with a perfect product from a single source,“ explains Andreas Lewerken, Managing Director of the Kiebitzberg® Group. For example, the bar and sanitary facilities were manufactured using high-quality and fire-resistant Kiebitzberg® mineral materials such as the durable and timeless Corian® or HIMACS sheet material. „The first passenger ship for the Central Asian republic was built in the style of a convertible, so all materials had to be absolutely waterproof. For this second passenger ship, we were able to use finer and more sophisticated materials thanks to the roofing,“ says Andreas Lewerken.

The Kiebitzberg® group of companies is building on the 300-year history of the Havelberg shipyard. Where once Tsar Peter I was initiated into the art of shipbuilding, Andreas Lewerken has now created a shipyard of a special kind. The company manufactures yachts, commercial vessels, passenger ships, jetties, platforms and rafts on a 28,000 m² site. Further information on the Kiebitzberg® group of companies can be found at: www.kiebitzberg.de.

Journalists are cordially invited to the departure of the „Esil“ on July 6 at 7.30 am.
