Havelberg (as) An old Swiss railroad carriage will in future serve as a bridge between two buildings for a company in Frankfurt-Raunheim. Employees at the Kiebitzberg® shipyard in Havelberg are currently preparing the wagon for its future use. It is due to start its journey south in June, says Florian Lewerken, Head of the Ship Interiors and Solid Surface Processing department. The transportation alone should be exciting. The length of 23 meters and width of 3.50 meters requires heavy transport on a low-loader at night so as not to interfere with daytime traffic. But the installation will be even more exciting. Two cranes are to place the railcar bridge between the buildings. The head of Zeitfracht has been looking for a suitable wagon for some time, which will be converted into a bridge, connect an old building with the new building and serve as a passageway for employees and customers, reports Florian Lewerken. He discovered the wagon, which was once in use in Switzerland, at the Brandenburg railroad repair plant. Since the end of January, the yard has been working intensively on the wagon in order to meet the deadline. Repairs, steel and metal construction work, conservation, filling work and interior insulation have been completed and windows have been installed. The interior is currently being fitted out with heating, ventilation, flooring and electrics. „We have also brought local partners on board again,“ says Florian Lewerken. Once the old paint has been sanded off, the wagon will be painted red and white in Zeitfracht's colors. Havel residents and their guests will have the opportunity to see the extraordinary bridge at the Kiebitzberg® Group's open day next Saturday, May 14. But there will be plenty more to discover on the shipyard site and in the furniture workshops on this day from 10 am to 6 pm. For example, the „Astana II“, which is currently under construction - the second ship for Kazakhstan should be ready in eight weeks. The PonTOM® Cabrio will be offering tours on the Havel. One of the eleven new residential rafts being built in the Hanseatic city for a Potsdam entrepreneur will be christened. Anyone interested in the new ArtHotel on Havelberg's Schmokenberg will also receive information.
