Berlin, November 8th. After more than three quarters of a year of planning and a secret keel-laying ceremony in August, the construction of two electric passenger ships was announced today at a press conference in Berlin. Our client, SolarCircleLine GmbH, supported by its partner Stern & Kreisschiffahrt GmbH, has set itself the task of bringing emission-free passenger ship operations to the waters of Berlin. The aim was to deviate from the classic passenger compartment layout, bring more seats outside and give the ships a lounge feel. These requirements were met by Andreas Lewerken, who created the final designs for the twin ships. The ships are being built at the shipyard in Havelberg by Kiebitzberg GmbH & Co. KG, some of which are being built in parallel. Experienced market partners in the fields of electric drives, battery systems, ship electrics and ship design were recruited for the technical implementation.
Exciting months now lie ahead for the employees of the Havelberg shipyard and its partners. The first ship is scheduled for delivery in 2019.
